A vestibular physician is a medical doctor with advanced training in the diagnosis and management of disorders that affect balance, spatial orientation, and the sense of position in space.
Dizziness and vertigo are among the most common reasons people see a doctor — yet they remain among the most underdiagnosed and undertreated conditions. Most patients cycle through multiple clinicians before reaching the right diagnosis. A vestibular physician closes that gap.
At Sydney Dizziness Clinic, all consultations are led by a vestibular physician. This means you get a thorough, structured assessment — not a brief exam and a prescription — and a management plan grounded in the specific cause of your dizziness.
As part of the Australian Dizziness Clinics network, we also connect you to the broader team: vestibular physiotherapists, neurologists, ENT surgeons, and specialists in related fields — so your care is always coordinated.
The vestibular physician role fills the gap between:
- Your GP — who manages common conditions but may not have specialist vestibular training
- A neuro-otologist (ENT surgeon) — who performs surgery for structural inner ear problems
